  1. This article provides instructions for installing the necessary drivers to use the RCX USB tower with ROBOLAB for LabVIEW. These instructions have been tested on Mac OS X 10.9 and 10.10 as well as 32-bit and 64-bit Windows 7. For RCX USB tower support 1. Install LabVIEW for LEGO MINDSTORMS and/or the relevant MINDSTORMS add-on.
  2. I was unable to find a driver for the LEGO USB tower that works on Windows 7 64bit OS. I suspect the tower164 driver should work on 32bit Windows 7, but most people have 64bit, and no one seems interested in making a 64bit version of the tower driver. I was able to use the USB tower from Windows XP running under Virtual PC.

I've been waiting for several months now for NI to provide an update to LabVIEW for Lego Mindstorms to work with my EV3 Brick and, now that they've done it, I can't instal it. The link in the email pointed to a download page for Windoze only, typically of NI with their awful Mac support, so I came to this page. But I can't instal the latest version of the LabVIEW Lego Mindstorms module for Mac.

Lego Usb Tower Driver Downloads

  1. Obtain your copy of the Longbow Reviverhere
  2. Using Windows Explorer, copy your Lego RCX CD to c:RobolabCD
  3. Rename the PC-Install.exe to setup.exe
  4. Now, start the Longbow Reviver tool, on the “Old Installer Reviver” tab click the “Disable Windows 64bit Device Driver Signing Verification” checkbox, so that it is set.
  5. Now reboot.
  6. When your computer has started up again, start the Longbow Reviver tool again, select the “Old Installer Reviver” tab, pick the c:RobolabCD folder then click the Fix and Run Old Installer button.
  7. Once the conversion process is complete, the Robolab installer dialog will appear. Simply install as normal to the normal c:Robolab folder.
  8. Once the installation process is complete, make sure you fully quit the Robolab installer then switch back to the Longbow Reviver tool, select the “Old Program Reviver” tab, pick the newly installed c:Robolab folder, then click Fix Old Program
  9. Your Robolab Lego RCX is now ready for use.
